Georgian tight-head Anton Peikrishvili signs for Cardiff Blues
Cardiff Blues have bolstered their pack with the signing of Georgian tight-head prop Anton Peikrishvili.
The 23-cap international has already arrived in the Welsh capital after signing from Ulster and is available for selection for the remainder of the season.
Peikrishvili has previously enjoyed stints at Agen, Castres, Brive and Bayonne, playing in both the Top 14 and European Champions Cup.
The 29-year-old will provide further strength in depth and competition for Taufa’ao Filise, Scott Andrews and Dillon Lewis. He can also play on the opposite side of the scrum at loose-head.
Cardiff Blues head coach Danny Wilson said: “It was important that we brought in another tight-head and Anton fits the bill.
“Georgia have a tradition of strong packs and as expected he is a strong, scrummaging prop and brings a wealth of senior experience having spent several years in the Top 14, a notoriously attritional league.
“We’re looking forward to seeing Anton out on the pitch and also what he can teach some of our younger props.”
Peikrishvili made his international debut against Portugal in 2008 and has remained an ever present feature in the Lelos squad, playing in last year’s World Cup against New Zealand.
